Our mission is to preserve and protect Cayo Costa State Park's south beach at the park's most vulnerable and environmentally sensitive area known as "the Narrows". We implore the Department of Environmental Protection/Division of Recreation and Parks to immediately cease all commercial activities at the south dock reducing human impacts to the park’s fragile resources.
SAVE CAYO COSTA is a grassroots group of like-minded people including park visitors from all over the world, private boaters, land planners, environmental advocates and residents who share a common love for Cayo Costa State Park. We encourage everyone to visit the park responsibly!
Our group has worked diligently since 2016 to present our case to the DEP that commercial use of the island's most vulnerable section "the narrows" is a damaging and unsustainable management practice.
It is the DEP/DRP's job to use sensible management strategies that balance recreational use with protection of park natural resources. We are just asking them to do their job!
