The park's northern facilities are designed for large groups and private boaters. The park should increase capacity for all groups on this end as private boat slips are sorely lacking.
Park amenities include kayak/paddleboard rentals, concessions, tram rides across the beautiful mile-wide maritime hammock to the beach, trails and interpretive signs, pavilions, campground and rangers on duty to answer questions.
Commercial concession ferrys arrive daily from many points and reservations can be made online or by phone.
IMPORTANT VOTE JUNE 11TH
SAVE CAYO COSTA needs your voice when the the DEP's Division of State Lands Acquisition and Restoration Council (ARC) votes on the latest 10-year Unit Management Plan (UMP) that allows continued commercial use at the south dock. We must urge the DEP to require large groups to land at the North End Facilities which have the proper infrastructure.
At the Cayo Costa State Park Pelican Bay facilities visitors can walk to the Gulf of Mexico on this path that leads from the beachside pavilion and bathroom area. Adjacent to this are the primitive cabins, chickee hut and campground. Visitors can hike, find fabulous shells, fish and sunbathe along the expansive beaches from the north access park facilities.
Like to kayak or paddle board? Cayo Costa State Park offers rentals for backwater paddling, bike rentals , a ranger station, concessions, hiking, camping and special educational programs. Private boaters can tie up at the docks and access all of the facilities. The Park's new UMP includes the expansion of the North End docking and camping areas.
